A16 XLR
Professional 16-Channel AD/DA Converter

The A16 XLR is a high-quality, flexible AD/DA converter. With 16 analog inputs and outputs delivering uncompromising sound, and with two ADAT interfaces and two Z-Link interfaces for system interfacing, the A16 XLR is outstandingly well-suited for use in all kinds of studio setup.

Whether you're working with I/O cards, digital mixers or digital musical instruments - the A16 XLR converts your digital data streams reliably and professionally to audio signals. Likewise, it brings your analog signals into the digital domain with absolute fidelity.

The A16 XLR carries on the tradition of the successful A16 converter. It offers the features that made the A16 so popular, combined with fully up-to-date technology.

Highlights
  • 16 high-quality 24-bit / 96 kHz AD/DA converters
These ensure crystal-clear sound and absolute fidelity. Supported sample rates: 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz.
  • 16 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs
Provided as fully-symmetrical balanced XLR jacks for perfect integration into the professional studio environment. Switchable between -10 dBv and +4 dBu.
  • Two independent ADAT interfaces
Dual 8-channel I/Os, 24-bit, fully compatible with all devices which feature this widely-used digital interface.
  • S-Mux permits ADAT transfers of 96 kHz audio
Although the ADAT standard does not include sample rates above 48 kHz, the A16 XLR can transfer audio at 96 kHz using S-Mux mode, in which pairs of ADAT channels are coupled, giving you a total of eight S-Mux channels. Two independent Z-Link interfaces.
  • Two independent Z-Link Interfaces
This SONIC CORE-proprietary interface format, based upon FireWire technology, offers greater transfer bandwidth than ADAT. With Z-Link, simultaneous transfer of all 16 channels at 24 bits / 96 kHz is possible. Ideal for use with all Sonic Core systems that are equipped with Z-Link.
  • BNC Wordclock I/O
For synchronization of your complete digital setup. Functions both as master and as slave.
  • VU meters for precise level setting
The 16 5-segment level indicators permit convenient, precise setting of signal levels and allow you to keep everything under visual control at all times.
  • Memory function
The converter stores its current settings when you switch power off thus allowing for a smooth workflow at the next power up.
